Mahon Pool is one of the most beautiful ocean pool I’ve visited. It has some nice spots under the shade of natural rocks, and when the tide is high the waves bring foamy water into the pool (a friend said “like being in a big soup pot”).

It is a perfect spot to sit down to read, and if by chance you forgot your book: the pool has its own street library!

This library makes me think of my relationship with books when I was a kid. We should not only not write in books, but also take special care for them not to get stained with food or damaged by water. And here it is, this library, a wooden box, in front of the sea, exposed to rain and wind: I love it.

Whilst it is important to be careful with any of our goods for them to last longer (clothes, books, etc.), there is something important in understanding we need to USE these things too, in order to LIVE life. It reminds me a bit of many laundry powder slogans saying something like “Let your kids get dirty for fun, it’s good for their learning!” - well, that applies too, to us adults.

So here it is, this library next to the sea. If you find here a book that’s a bit damaged, enjoy it even more because you can take it anywhere without worrying about it.
